Drive will not open
If you are unable to open the drawer on the CD-ROM drive, there are a couple of possible causes

Drive may be in use
-
Eject button may be broke
-
Data cable may be loose, or bad. The motherboard port may be bad
-
Power connector may be loose or bad
Drive may be in use or think it is in use
-
Reboot the computer
-
Try ejecting the drive
Eject button may be broke

Try manually ejecting the drawer
-
Go to My Computer or Computer (Link will open in a separate window)

Right-click the CD-ROM drive you want to eject the drive on
-
Click on Eject
Data cable or motherboard may be bad
-
Reseat the Data cable on the back of the CD-ROM and motherboard
-
Did this fix the issue (if not continue to next step)

Try the data cable on the other IDE port or SATA port on the motherboard (if the motherboard has two of the same ports available)

Did this fix the issue

If yes, motherboard is bad
-
If no, continue to next step

Try another data cable, try another cable
-
Did this fix the issue
-
If yes, the data cable is bad
-
If no, continue to next step

Disconnect the IDE data cable or SATA data cable from drive and try it without the data cable

Will the drive eject?
-
If yes, the CD-ROM drive is bad
-
If no, continue to next step

Reseat IDE power connector or SATA power connector

Did this fix the issue?

If no continue to next step

Try a different power connector
-
Did this fix the issue?
-
If yes, the connector on the power supply is bad
-
If no, the CD-ROM drive is bad

Power connector may be loose

Try reseating power connector
-
Try another IDE power connector or SATA power connector

Did this fix the issue

If yes, the power supply is bad
-
If no, the drive needs replacing
