Edit dialing rules
Click on the hyperlink for instructions for that step.
To access Dialing Rules do the following.
- Go to Windows XP Modems (This link will open in a different window)
- Double-click on Dialing Rules
- Click on Edit
This page shows a new connection. When you click on Edit and not new, it will be the same page, but the information will already be typed in. If you want the information edited just change the desired information.

You can edit the name on this location . You can have several locations setup.

If you are at a business or location where you have to press a number before dialing to get an outside line, enter it here.

If you are at a business or location where you have to press a number before dialing to get an outside line to call long distance, enter it here.

If you don't have a long distance carrier selected, you will have to enter a long distance carrier number in order to dial long distance.

If you don't have a long distance carrier selected, you will have to enter a long distance carrier number in order to dial International.

If you have call waiting you can turn it off here. (Older modems would get damaged by call waiting and was highly recommended to turn call waiting off. I am not able to find any documentation on this issue any longer so this may not apply any longer.)

Lets you choose from Touch tone or Pulse dialing.
