Load Device Drivers

After windows is loaded, you have to load drivers. Here is the steps that you take to load the drivers. You can go to the Device manager and see what has a bang on it. ( A bang means there is an ?, !, or an X next to the device. That indicates that either there is a problem with the device or the driver is not loaded. )

  1. Dell Desktop System Software (on some Dell systems, this software has to be loaded before the chipset, but not on all systems)

  2. Load chipset (For most systems, chipset has to be loaded first. If not loaded first, the install of windows will get corrupted. Some systems do not require the chipset loaded and some operating systems have the chipset built in. Please consult your computer manual, computer manufacturer or E-Mail me for help with that)

  3. Load Video driver - This driver may already be loaded depending on the Operating System loaded and what video card it is.

For help with accessing the Device Manager to see if there is a bang, click on the following links.

Some systems will not need drivers loaded or the drivers that needs to be loaded may vary. If the chipset has not been loaded, it will need to be loaded first then if the video is not loaded then you can load the video. After that you can load any driver in any order.
