Remove or install CMOS Battery

Read the Safety Procedures. Very Important!!!

 

If you need to replace the CMOS battery that is on the motherboard, follow these steps (for more information about the step, click on the link)

  1. Enter the BIOS
  2. Write down the settings for the bios so if the settings change, you can set them back to the original settings
  3. Turn computer off
  4. Disconnect all cables (Including the power cord)
  5. Push the power button for five seconds to drain the power (with power cord disconnected!)
  6. Open the case
  7.  You will see the battery on the motherboard. It will look like a quarter.
  8. There will be a notch on one side.
  9. Place a flat head screwdriver or some other small item in the notch (be careful not to damage anything or hurt yourself)
  10. Pry the battery out (don't force it)
  11. Leave the battery out for approximately two minutes.
  12. Put the battery back in or put a new battery in.
  13. Enter the BIOS
  14. Check the settings and correct any setting that is wrong.
  15. Save and exit the BIOS
