Dell Restore of Vista

Not all Dells but most have a program on it from Symantec to restore the system back to factory defaults.

WARNING!!! This program will erase all files on your system. Make sure you have any important files backed up before running this program or you will loose the files.

This program is used to put the system back to the way it was when you first took it out of the box.

To run the restore, do the following

  1. Disconnect
    1. Scanners
    2. Printers
    3. Modem or Network cables
    4. Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)
    5. USB flash drive or other external Hard Drive
    6. Any other external devices (e.g., USB-attached devices)
    7. Remove the computer from the docking station, if you are using one
  2. Turn on the computer
    1. When the computer starts, press <F8> key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears
    1. If you see the windows splash screen, you have missed the window
    2. Repeat step 1 and 2 till you get Advanced Boot Options
  3. Press the <Down Arrow> on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options Menu
  4. Press <Enter>
  5. Specify the language settings that you want, and click Next
  6. Log in as a user who ahs administrative credentials and click OK
  7. Click Dell Factory Image Restore
  8. In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next
  9. Click to select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box
  10. Click Next
  11. When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer
