Preparing CDRW or a DVDRW disk for use

This procedure may not apply to all CDRW or DVDRW disks. Some CDRW or DVDRW disks require the disk to be erased before it is formatted. This applies to disks that has never been used as well as used disks. This does not apply to CDR, DVD-R, or DVD+R disks. It only applies to the RW disks.
If you try to format a CDRW or a DVDRW disk and it will not work, try erasing it first.
