Search Index 

To turn search index on or off, do the following

  1. Click Start (Link will open in a separate window)

  2. Click Search (Link will open in a separate window)

  3. Click Change preferences

  4. Click on With indexing Service (for faster local searches)

  5. To turn on Indexing service put the dot in Yes, enable Indexing Service.

  6. To turn off Indexing service put the dot in No, do not enable Indexing Service.

  7. Click OK

 

You can also disable or enable Indexing service by doing the following

  1. Access Run or Search Window (Link will open in a separate window)

  2. Type Services.msc

  3. Click OK

  4. Double-click on Indexing Service

  5. Set Startup type to Disabled

  6. Click OK

 

If you want to temporarily disable Indexing Service, do the following

  1. Press CTRL-ALT-Delete (Link will open in a separate window)

  2. This will bring up Windows Task Manager

  3. Click the Processes tab

  4. Highlight Cidaemon.exe

  5. Click on End Process

  6. Click on End Process

  7. Close Task Manager

  8. It will come back when you restart your computer
