Older programs

The programs will say they are designed for those programs but they may install on newer systems. The only way to find out if an older program will install on Windows XP is to try it.

Unfortunately, installing the program to find out if it works can be dangerous. The following is a small list of results of installing an older program on a newer operating system

  • Program installs fine with no problems
  • Program runs fine with no problems
  • The install will not run and you can't get it installed.
  • The game will not run after it is installed
  • The game crashes during play
  • The game makes the entire system slow
  • The game may crash the system entirely where it won't boot up or gives errors.

If you are going to try to install an older program, here is some suggestions

  • See if there is any patches on the manufacturer's website
  • See if there is any information about the game working with the newer os at the manufacturers website.
  • Make sure you have your important data backed up.
  • Create a system restore point before you install the program.
