How to determine if USB is 1.1 or 2.0

If your system was purchased before 2001, the USB on your system will be 1.0 or 1.1. If you got your system around 2001, then it may have 1.1 or 2.0.

To determine if your system has 2.0 do the following

Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
Double-click System
Click the Hardware tab
Click Device Manager
Click the plus (+) next to Universal Serial Bus controllers
If any of the USB items say enhanced or say 2.0, then you have USB 2.0
If it does not have either enhanced or 2.0 on the description then it is either 1.0, or 1.1.
