USB flash drive letter
The drive letter of the USB flash drive can change, even on the same computer. When you insert the drive into an available USB port. Windows will assign it the first available drive letter. Here is a few scenarios so you can understand what I am talking about.
Scenario A
You have a hard drive that will be drive letter C
You have two CD-ROM drives and they are letter D and the letter E
You insert the USB flash drive in an available USB port. Windows will assign it drive letter F
Scenario B
You have a hard drive that will be drive letter C
You have two CD-ROM drives and they are letter D and the letter E
You connected an external hard drive to your system. Windows assigns it drive letter F
You then insert the USB flash drive in an available USB port. Windows will assign it drive letter G
Scenario C
You have a hard drive that will be drive letter C
You have two CD-ROM drives and they are letter D and the letter E
You insert the USB flash drive in an available USB port. Windows will assign it drive letter F
You connected an external hard drive to your system. Windows assigns it drive letter G
As you can see the drive letter for the flash drive will change depending on what is connected to the system at the time you insert the drive. You can determine the drive letter by looking in my computer.
