Shortcut
A shortcut is a neat tool to access a file, open a program, or a picture that is located somewhere else. Without a shortcut, you would have to go to the location the file is at to open it. With a shortcut, you can run the shortcut and it will start the application. You can create shortcuts anywhere you want. Best way to explain it is to give an example.
You are on the desktop but you want to open the document called mydailytasks.doc. Without a shortcut, you have to do the following
-
Click Start
-
Click All Programs
-
Arrow over Microsoft Office
-
Click on Word and wait for it to open
-
Click File
-
Click Open
-
Select the file
-
Click Open
Now if you are on the Desktop and you already have a shortcut on the Desktop for that file, All you have to do is double-click the shortcut instead of doing all the steps above.
