If you are having trouble connecting to the internet or to a network, the connection speed may not be set correctly or conflicting with the speed of the network device that is connected to your network card. To change the setting do the following
- Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
- Double-click on System
- Click Hardware
- Click Device Manager
- Click the plus (+) next to Network Adapter
- Right click on your network card
- Click Properties
- Click Advanced
- Highlight Media Type

Change the Value to desired connection speed (the name of the setting may be different according to the card manufacturer and/or driver version)
- If the hub is a 10/100/1000 auto-switching hub, configure the card for 10Mb.
- If the hub is a 1000Mb only hub, configure the card for 1000Mb.
- If the hub is a 100Mb only hub, configure the card for 100Mb.
- If the hub is a 10Mb only hub, configure the card for 10Mb.
- Configure the card for half duplex (the name of the setting may be different according to the card manufacturer and/or driver version)
- Reboot the computer.
