Notes

  • To access System Information on a remote computer, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups , Default groups , and Using Run as .
  • System history is collected when changes are made to certain system devices and settings. This system history data is compared periodically to the previous system settings, and if there are any changes, those changes are saved in the System History view. Only the most recent changes are compared against previous settings; therefore, it is possible to make multiple changes to a certain device or driver and have only one of the changes appear in the System History view.
  • History data is not collected for all System Information categories.
