If you need to send message via chat
If you are chatting in Facebook and the person goes offline, you can send the person a message instead. To do this, follow these steps

When chat window gives you this message

This means the person is offline

If you click (send as a message), you can send a private message to the user

The information you typed in chat will carry over to the message. Just fill out the subject line. You can also add more to the message if you want. Then click Send
