Computer case types

Read the Safety Procedures. Very Important!!!

There is numerous types of computer cases. Each one has it's own layout. There is too many to explain here, so you will have to go to the manufacturer for information about the type of case you have. I am including a few here for you to have an idea.

Dell Optiplex GX110 tower

Above is a Dell Optiplex GX110 tower. You will notice a padlock latch in the back (indicated by the picture). You can put a padlock there to prevent others from opening the case. Also if you want to remove the cover, you have to slide the rings till they are separated (as seen in the picture).  Then you have to push the button located on the bottom left corner of the front. Then you can lift the side panel up and off.

Dell Optiplex GX110 Low Profile

Above is another Dell Optiplex GX110 system but it is a low profile system. To open this case, push the buttons on each side (indicted by 1 in the picture) and then open the system like a suitcase.

Dell Dimension 5150

Above is a Dell Dimension 5150 tower. To remove the cover on this one, Pull the cover latch release located on top of system in the back. The side panel will lift up and off.

Some cases require you to also remove the front panel in order to install the CD-ROM and other devices. For example, the Dimension 8100 requires the front panel to be removed.
