Survived by his wife of 60 years, Georgie Bridgeman; three children, James (Chris) Bridgeman of Bethesda, Maryland, Paula (Jeff) Smith of Shelbyville, Tennessee, and John (Lisa) Bridgeman of Nolensville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Ben (Kelly) Smith of Axis, Alabama, Steven (Liz) Smith of White House, Tennessee, David and Rachel Bridgeman of Bethesda, and Ana and Amy Bridgeman of Nolensville; two great-grandchildren, Naomi and Stetson Smith of White House; one sister, Louise Paterna of Nashville; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Hart of Searcy, Arkansas and Dorothy Jackson of Nashville; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Harding College and Peabody College. He was on the first faculty of Madison High School (1953) and its assistant principal (1960-68), was principal of DuPont High School (1968-71), and was the first high school principal of Goodpasture Christian School (1971-88).
