Eight Grade Business Education

Of Gallatin, from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Charles Williams and William Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury, TN with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mr. Higgins was born November 8, 1919 in Cannon County, TN son of the late Harrison and Hessie Agnes Fann Higgins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Harry Higgins, Sr. and brothers, Hammon Higgins and Henry Higgins and sisters, Bessie Leeman and Ola Lee Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kate Miles Higgins; son, Joe W. Higgins, Jr., (Carolyn) of Madison, AL; daughter, Kathryn Lynne Gaines of Gallatin; sister, Ina Hayes Dutton of Murfreesboro; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Higgins served for six years in the U.S. Marines Corp during World War II. He was a teacher and principal for 25 years including Christiana H.S., Cumberland H.S., East Nashville H.S. and then retiring from the Metro School Systems at Antioch High School. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
