Dell PC restore

Not all Dells but most have a program on it from Symantec to restore the system back to factory defaults.

WARNING!!! This program will erase all files on your system. Make sure you have any important files backed up before running this program or you will loose the files.

This program is used to put the system back to the way it was when you first took it out of the box.

To run the restore, do the following

  1. Disconnect any printers, scanners and anything else that is connected on the system that didn't come with it.
  2. Turn the computer on
  3. When you see the Dell splash screen, press and hold the The <CTRL> key and press the <F11> key at the same time.
  4. If you see windows, you missed the program and turn the computer off. Repeat steps 2 and 3 till you get the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window
  5. Click Restore or alternatively, press <Tab> key to highlight Restore and press <Enter>
  6. When you see the warning message, click Confirm or press <Tab> to highlight Confirm and press <Enter>
  7. Click Finish or press <Tab> key to highlight Finish and press <Enter>

The process takes about 8 to 10 minutes to finish. Follow the prompts to set the system up after it finishes.

You can then do the windows updates and install any programs you want.
