Data recovery Windows 95, 98, ME
NOTE: Do not try to back up programs or program files. You should have the software for them. If you transfer them, you can corrupt the new operating system.
NOTE: If you have already done an install of windows or other type of recovery, you may not be able to recover the files from the system. You may have to contact a data recovery company for assistance. They are expensive and not 100% guaranteed.
- Try booting to Safe mode.
- Try booting to command prompt
- Try booting to DOS and save the files that way.
- You can try attaching the hard drive as a slave drive and see if you can access the data from there.
- You can contact a data recovery company. It is not 100% guaranteed and expensive.
Your CD-ROM burner will not work in safe mode or DOS (there might be 3rd party utilities on the internet to allow that however) A zip drive will work in DOS, if you have the DOS utility for it (You can download it from IOMEGA.com)
