Internet Explorer connections tab
To access this page do the following
- Access Internet Options (The hyperlink will open in a separate window)
- Click on Connections
Has three sections
- Setup - To setup an Internet connection, click Setup.
- Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings
- Local Area Network (LAN) settings - LAN Settings do not apply to dial-up connections.
Setup
- Click on Setup

Click Next
- Choose how you want to connect and what you want to connect to.
- Go through the prompts to set up the connection.
Dial-Up
- Add - lets you setup a new dial-up connection
- Remove - lets you remove a dial-up connection
- Settings - allows you to adjust the settings of the dial-up.
Settings allows you to select Automatic configuration, use a proxy server and to set Dial-up Settings (user name and password).You can also access the modem advanced page under settings
Note: Some programs will put a check in the proxy server without you knowing about it. The proxy server will prevent you to access some websites.
You can set the dial-up for the following options
- Never dial a connection
- Dial whenever a network connection is not present
- Always dial my default connection.
LAN
Has two sections
- Automatic Configuration
- Proxy Server
Automatic Configuration
- Automatically detect settings
- Use automatic configuration script
Proxy Server
Us a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)
Note: Some programs will put a check in the proxy server without you knowing about it. The proxy server will prevent you to access some websites.
