What is a profile?

When people talk about a profile in Windows, they are talking about an individual account within Windows. Each profile has their own favorites, Desktop, and My Documents. They are found under Users under the name of their profile.
In the picture below, there is four profiles

Each profile has the following file directories listed underneath them.

The default location of the user directories such as Desktop, Documents and such is C:\users\username (substitute the name of user for username) However, you can move the location of those folders to a different location on the hard drive or to another drive. To move them, click here
