Create restore points

Windows makes a snapshot of your system settings periodically. This allows you to go back before a device or program is installed. This is a good feature to use when you are experiencing a problem with your system. With this feature, you can take your system back before the problem. When you install a program or device, you should make sure a restore point is available and recent.

To create a restore point follow these steps

Click on the hyperlink for instructions for that step or on for a picture of that step.

Windows XP

  1. Open System Restore

  2. Put the dot in Create a restore point

   
  1. Click on Next

   
  1. Type in a name to describe the point

   
  1. Click on Create

   
  1. Click on Close

   

Windows Vista

  1. Click Orb

   
  1. Right-click Computer

  2. Click Properties

   
  1. Click System Protection

   
  1. Click Continue

  2. Click Create

 
  1. Give the restore point a name

  2. Click Create
