How to create a shortcut
If you want a shortcut on the Desktop, Choose which one your wanting to do
Shortcut to a program on your computer
For these instructions I am going to show how to create a shortcut to Computer Services

Right-click the Desktop (or where you want the shortcut)

Click New

Click Shortcut

If you don't know the location or the executable name of the program you want to access, click Browse and navigate to the file you need to run

We already know the command we need to run so we just pasted it in the window which is %windir%\system32\comexp.msc

We are giving the shortcut the name of Component Services then clicking Finish (this is important, this is the name you will see on the shortcut and will tell you what it is for)

How to pin a shortcut to the taskbar
To put a link to a website on the Desktop, do the following
- On the address bar, Right-click the icon to the left of the website address
- Hold down the mouse and drag it to the Desktop
- When you get it to the location you want it, let go of the mouse
If you have the link saved in your Favorites, you can put it on the Desktop this way.
- Open Favorites in Internet Explorer
- Right-click the item you want on the Desktop (in this example, it is MSNBC)
- Arrow over to Send to
- Click Desktop (create shortcut)
