Trend Micro
Trend Micro is a very good site to deal with a virus. Follow these directions. Click on the hyperlink for more information on that step. NOTE: This is an external website. They may move the location of the site causing the link to be bad or change the way the program runs so this is only a guide.
- Turn off System Restore
- Boot to Safe Mode with Networking
- Go to http://www.trendmicro.com
- Click on the link "Free Virus Scan"
- Click on the link "Scan Now, It's Free"
- Choose United States on the drop down menu (You may not see this. If you don't then skip to step 8)
- Click on Go
- Install Active X control. (If the active X is already installed, you will not see this. Just skip to the next step)
- Click on the button with the magnifying glass
- Click on Complete Scan
- Put a check in Local Disk (C:)
- Click Next
- Let it finish scanning
- If it found a virus, then click Next and choose delete.
- If it did find a virus, reboot and repeat the above steps to make sure all viruses is gone.
- Turn on System Restore
- Create a System Restore Point
If you can't get it to work in safe mode with networking then do the following in normal mode
- Turn off System Restore
- Limit MSCONFIG (Windows XP)
- Go to http://www.trendmicro.com
- Click on the link "Free Virus Scan"
- Click on the link "Scan Now, It's Free"
- Choose United States on the drop down menu (You may not see this. If you don't then skip to step 8)
- Click on Go
- Install Active X control. (If the active X is already installed, you will not see this. Just skip to the next step)
- Click on the button with the magnifying glass
- Click on Complete Scan
- Put a check in Local Disk (C:)
- Click Next

- If it found a virus, then click Next and choose delete.
