How to rename Outlook.pst file
To rename the Outlook.pst file, choose the following steps
Determine the location of the Outlook.pst file
There is two different locations depending on the type of account. To find out the location, click on the one that pertains to you
- Open Outlook
- Click on Tools
- Click on E-mail Accounts
- Make sure View or change existing e-mail accounts has the dot in it.
- Click Next
- Click on More Settings
- Click Advanced
- The location of the Outlook.pst file will be listed here.
- Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
- Double-click on Mail
- Click on Data Files
- Click Next
- The location of the Personal Folders is listed here.
To rename the Outlook.pst file do the following
- Open Windows Explorer
- Show hidden files and folders
- Navigate to the location of the Outlook.pst file from either the Pop3 account or the Exchange Server
- Highlight Outlook.pst
- Right click on Outlook.pst
- Click on Rename
- Leave the filename Outlook.pst alone. Just add old to the end of it.
- Now the filename will be Outlook.pstold
