Removing removable media from index

Follow these steps to remove the index on the removable media.

Windows 98 and Me

1. Right click My Computer on the desktop.

2. Click on manage.

3. Click the (+) plus sign next to Services and Applications.

4.  Click the (+) plus sign next to Indexing Service.

5. Click the (+) plus sign next to System.

6. Click the Directories folder.

7. In the right pane, check for #:\.  (Substitute the CD-ROM drive letter for the #)

8. If the entry exists, delete it.

9. Close the Computer Management window and reboot the system.

 

 

Windows XP

1. Click on Start

2. Right click My Computer

3. Click on manage.

4. Click the (+) plus sign next to Services and Applications.

5.  Click the (+) plus sign next to Indexing Service.

6. Click the (+) plus sign next to System.

7. Click the Directories folder.

8. In the right pane, check for #:\.  (Substitute the CD-ROM drive letter for the #)

9. If the entry exists, delete it.

10. Close the Computer Management window and reboot the system.
