Remove Audio Codecs

Windows XP

Click on the hyperlink for instructions for that step.

 

  1. Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
  2. Double-click on Sounds and Audio Devices
  3. Click on Hardware
  4. Audio Codecs may be listed. If it is not listed here than it will be listed under Sound, Game and Video in the Device Manager
  5. Highlight Audio Codecs
  6. Click on Properties
  7. Highlight the first item
  8. Click on Remove (it may ask you to reboot. Say No)
  9. Repeat Step 7 and 8 till all items are removed (some may not allow you to remove and that is ok)
  10. Reboot the computer
