USB flash drives in Windows 98

USB drives are natively installed in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. To use the USB drive, all you have to do is insert the drive and the system will detect the drive and install the driver.

Windows 98 and possibly Windows ME does not have the driver natively installed for the USB drive. In order to use the USB drive, you will have to install the driver. You don't have to install the driver every time you insert the drive. You only have to install it once. Most drives do not come with the driver for Windows 98 but the driver will be on the website of the USB drive. If you need to use the key in a system that has Windows 98, download the driver and put it on a floppy or CD. Just install the driver and then you can use the drive just like you would with a machine that has Windows XP.
