Everquest install tip

Everquest is a constant growing game. They are coming out with additional expansion packs. This is great until you have to do a re-install. To do a re-install will require you to install Everquest and its expansion packs. Then you have to do all the patches. You can be installing 12 or more disks, not to mention all the patches. If you have dial-up, it will take forever.

Below is a procedure to make it quicker and easier to install Everquest and all the expansion packs. It will also put majority of the patches on the system. Choose the option that will work

Option 1 Burn Everquest folder to CD

If you are doing a re-install of the operating system because of a virus, don't use this procedure or you might copy the virus too and defeat the re-install efforts. If you are re-installing because of a virus and have another computer that is not affected, you can do this on that computer and then copy it to this system.

Also don't use this if you suspect the Everquest files are corrupted.

  1. Burn the Everquest folder to a CD (The folder is probably C:\program files\Everquest but might be a different location depending on how Everquest was installed.)

  2. When you are ready to install Everquest, Install the original Everquest with the installation disk (Very important)

  3. Copy the Everquest folder you have burned to a CD to the directory you installed Everquest on.

  4. Now you should be able to use Everquest as if you never uninstalled it. You may have to do a few patches but most of them should be on the system.

Option 2 Copy the Everquest folder from another system in the network.

  1. When you are ready to install Everquest, Install the original Everquest with the installation disk (Very important)

  2. Copy the Everquest folder from another system to the folder Everquest is installed at on this computer.

  3. You may have to patch Everquest depending on what patches was on the other system.

  4. If the other system doesn't have an expansion pack on it, then it won't be on this system but if it is on the other system then it will be on this one as well.
