Access mail away from home

Majority of internet providers if not all, allow their customers to access their mail from the internet. To access your mail, you would normally go to their home page and there should be a link for email. Click on that link and you should be able to enter your Username and Password. For example to get mail from an AOL account while you are not at home, go to http://www.aol.com and click on Read and write mail.

NOTE: If you use Outlook or Outlook Express, it will download messages from the server on to your computer by default. When it does this the message will be erased from the server and on your computer. If you leave Outlook or Outlook Express open while you are out of the house and try to receive your mail, you won't be able to get the mail when you go to the web and check your mail. That is because Outlook downloaded it to your computer and removed it from the server.  If you want to leave your Outlook open when your not home and still be able to access the mail from outside the home, do the following

Outlook

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Options
