How to import and export rules

If you are moving your Outlook to a new computer, this procedure will show you how to move the rules. This feature doesn't completely move the rules. I don't know why it doesn't completely export the rules but it doesn't. It will export the rule but it will not maintain the contacts. You have to re-enter the contacts yourself. Sometimes it will be quicker to re-enter the rules from scratch because of it. If you find a way to get it to import all parts of the rule, please email me and let me know.

Here is the procedure to export the rules.

1. Open Outlook
2. Click on Tools
3. Click on Rules and Alerts
4. Click on Options
5. Click on Export Rules
6. Choose the location you want to save the rules to
7. Give the rules a name
8. Click on Save

 

Here is the procedure to import the rules

1. Open Outlook
2. Click on Tools
3. Click on Rules and Alerts
4. Click on Options
5. Click on Import Rules
6. Choose the location you saved the rules when you exported them
7. Click on OK
8. Click on OK again
