Outlook Express works but not Outlook

Follow the following steps to get outlook to work. (The screenshots are from Outlook Express 6 and Outlook 2002. Your screens may differ but the procedure is similar)

  1. Open up Outlook. Express.
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Accounts
  1. Click on the Mail tab 
  2. Highlight your mail account (the name will vary per account
  3. Click on Properties 
  4. Copy down all the info under the General tab
  5. Copy down all the info under the Server tab
  6. Open Outlook
  7. Click on Tools
  8. Click on E-mail Accounts
  9. Click on view or change existing E-mail accounts and then click next
  10. Highlight your E-mail account and click change
  11. Make sure these settings match the settings in Outlook Express. Capitalization must match as well.
