Create an ISO or file

When you want to create a backup copy of a disk, such as an install disk, music CD and such, you can create an ISO or Then if you lose the disk, you can burn a new disk with it.  For more information on what is an ISO image, click here

1. Access Nero 2017

2. Put the disk in the drive that you want to make an image of

3. Choose the type of disk you are using

4. Choose the task that you want to do (if you chose CD above, it would say CD and not DVD. Same with Blu-ray)

5. Set the settings for the project

6. Click New

7. Click Extras

8. Click Save Data Track...

9. Choose the drive you have the disk in

10. Choose the location you want to save it in

11. You can save the file in two different formats

    1. The default is .nrg. This is the format in Nero. If you use this format, you will have to use Nero to burn the disk in the future or a program that accepts the .nrg format. There is a possibility other software may not recognize it.

2. .ISO. This is industry standard. I would recommend using this format

12. Give it a filename

13. Click Save

14. If you see the following, the process has started
