How to Burn the I386 with the Updates to a Bootable CD

This procedure will not work with all CD burning software. It doesn't even work with all versions of Easy CD Creator. For the versions that does work, the steps may vary from this page but it should be close enough to walk you through it.

  1. Open Easy CD Creator
  2. Click on File
  3. Click on New Project
  4. Click on Bootable CD
    1. Set the Bootable Disc Type to No Emulation
    2. Click on Browse
    3. Select the Boot File Microsoft Corporation.img file. Click here for instructions on how to extract that file.
    4. Set Load Segment to 0x7c0
    5. Set Sector Count to 4
    6. Click on OK
  5. You should see the following two files
    1. BOOTCAT.BIN
    2. BOOTIMG.BIN
  6. Click File
  7. Click CD Project properties
  8. There is three tabs. Make sure they are set to the following
    1. General tab
      1. Set Volume Label to WXPFFP_EN
      2. Set File System to ISO9660
      3. Make sure the following three items is unchecked
        1. Validate source files before recording
        2. Automatically verify File System after recording
        3. Record using a single data track only
      4. Make sure Mode 1-CDROM is selected
  9. Advanced tab
    1. Make sure the following is blank
      1. Publisher Name
      2. Prepared By:
      3. Copyright:
      4. Abstract:
      5. Bibliography
      6. Make sure Use original file date is selected
      7. Make sure Any MS-DOS 8.3 character file names is selected
  10. File Filter
    1. Make sure All Files is selected
    2. Make sure the rest is unchecked.
