3-way SLI and 28 Lane CPU

Some motherboards will not enable SLI if you are using a CPU that has max number of PCI Express Lanes of 28. It has to be 40 lane. This may not apply to every motherboard that is SLI capable so you will need to verify the processor type requirements of your motherboard to see if it will take 28 lane or not. If your motherboard will not work with SLI a CP with max number of PCI Express lanes of 28, you will have to either not setup SLI or buy a different CPU. The CPU will still work on the motherboard, you just will not be able to use SLI.

To see if your CPU is 40 lane or 28 lane, look at the specifications of the CPU
