USB connections

The USB connection is the easiest to connect on the back of the computer. The computer will have two to six USB connections. Some computers have USB connections in the front of the system and some do not.

 

The plug will only go in one way so if it won't go in, then flip it. the connector can go into any USB connector on the back of the system. There is no specific USB connector for a specific device. On some systems, the keyboard and mouse will only work on the USB ports in the back of the computer and not the front of the computer. Other than that, you can connect the USB devices into any USB port.

You can plug any USB device while in windows. You do not have to turn the computer off to plug them in like other connections.

In theory, you can hook up to 127 devices via USB. If you have 4 USB ports on your system but have 6 USB devices, you will need to connect a USB hub in order to connect the additional USB devices.

The limits on USB that may not allow you to connect up to 127 devices is the resources of your system. Each device uses power. the more devices you have connected, the more power it uses. I doubt your power supply will be able to handle 127 devices (I doubt you would have the use of 127 devices anyways) I have no idea how many devices your power supply can handle.

Another limitation on your number of devices you can plug in is your memory. Each devices uses a portion of your memory and therefore the more devices you are using the more memory you are using.

There is some USB devices that uses the power off the computer and doesn't use its own power source. If it doesn't work, you may need to plug it into its own power source.

Some USB devices will require a driver to be installed. If this is the case, install the driver for the device. If the driver is installed and was working but not now, try uninstalling the driver, reboot and re-install the driver.
