VANDERCOOK, Jack "J.D.", age 77 of Hendersonville passed away on Nov. 11, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Simon & Bethel Vandercook. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane Panter Vandercook; son, Jack (Kim Briggs) Vandercook, Jr.; daughter, Kim Sonnen; Jammie Breedlove; brother Jerry Vandercook; sisters, Helen Thomasson, Glenda Mayes & Jean Taylor; Brother-in-law, Ron Panter. J.D. spent a majority of his life as a public servant, dutifully serving multiple terms as the Sheriff of Sumner County and various other civic offices. He was generous with his time, giving hours of his day to the Shrine Clowns entertaining and brightening the lives of the many children who loved him dearly. He will be remembered as a man who loved his friends as family and his family above all else. His absence will be felt in the hearts of all the lives he touched. Visitation will be at Phillips-Robinson Hadley Chapel, 1700 Hadley Ave., Old Hickory, TN 37138, on Thurs. Nov. 13 from 4-8pm and again on Fri. Nov. 14 from 10-12pm with the service in our chapel at 12pm, Norman Slate Officiating. Interment will be immediately following at Beech Cemetery in Hendersonville, TN.
