Wilbur E. ‘Buddy’ Hooks II, age 67 of Nashville, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2015.
Mr. Hooks was a graduate of Madison High School and the University of Tennessee where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He faithfully served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marines Corps and was awarded many honors and certifications. After his time in the service, he started a 43 year career with the State of Tennessee Department of Revenue and ultimately held the position of Director of Tax Enforcement.
Buddy was a dedicated and longtime member of Dalewood United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustees and the Financial Committee as well as teacher of the Elderberry Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Phoenix Lodge #131 F&AM.
Mr. Hooks had many talents and hobbies and always put the needs of others before himself. He loved his Church, his Family, his State and his Country. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, Pap Paw and friend to all.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Earl Sr. and Virginia Adams Hooks, one brother, Johnny Hooks and one sister, Jeannie Hooks. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jessie Judy Ann Meadows-Hooks of Nashville, one son Wilbur Earl ‘Trey’ Hooks III (Mary) of Franklin, one daughter Elizabeth ‘Lori’ Hooks-Hessey of Old Hickory, one brother Clarence Hooks of Bethpage, two grandchildren Alexandria and Clark Hooks of Franklin, and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
Visitation with the Hooks family will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Dalewood United Methodist Church in Inglewood. Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Dalewood United Methodist Church with Reverend Kyle Frohock officiating. Interment to follow at the Springhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his friends Bill Forrester, Jim Green, Steve Rouse, Larry Lamb, Danny Adcock and Herbert Cunningham. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Elderberry Sunday School Class and colleagues of State of Tennessee Department of Revenue.
