Add SSID manually

For added security, some administrators do not broadcast the SSID. If the SSID is not broadcasted, you may not know the wireless is available (unless you have special software to detect its presence). To manually enter an SSID that you know exists, do the following

  1. Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
  2. Double-click Network Connections
  3. Right-click the wireless connection
  4. Click Properties
  5. Click the Wireless Networks tab
  6. Under the Preferred networks, click Add
  7. Enter the SSID of the wireless that you want to access
  8. Enter the Wireless network key if one is required (see the network administrator for this information)
  9. Click on OK

  • Click on OK again
