How to boot to Safe Mode

Windows 2000 XP

Safe mode only allows the necessary files needed to start windows to run. This is good to use in case a program or file is preventing you from booting to the desktop.

 

You can boot to Safe Mode manually or you can use a good utility.

Manually boot to Safe Mode

  1. If system is on, Turn it off.
  2. Then turn system back on
  3. Press Function key F8 over and over again till you get the boot menu (As soon as you turn system on).

       

  4. Then highlight Safe mode
  5. Press Enter.
  1. Highlight your operating system
  2. Press Enter
 

You will see a bunch of lines on the screen

  1. Choose Administrator.

  2. Click Yes

Use Utility to boot to Safe mode

  1. Download the boot utility

  2. Double-click Bootsafe.exe

  3. Choose Safe mode - Minimal

  4. Click Reboot
