How to add items to the Send to 

You can right click on a file and send it to the CD-ROM or floppy by default. If you want to add another location, follow the steps below.

Windows XP

In the following instructions, I am going to show you how to add notepad to the Send To feature

  1. Open Documents and Settings
  2. Double-click on the folder for the particular user (For this example, the user will be Jesse)
   
  1. Double-click the Send To folder. The folder might be hidden. Click here for instructions on showing hidden files.
   
  1. Click File
   
  1. Click New
   
  1. Click Shortcut
   
  1. Click Browse
   
  1. Look for the program you want to add to the Send To feature and highlight it (for the example, we are looking for notepad)
   
  1. Click OK
  1. Click Next
 
  1. Give the shortcut a name (for the example, it is going to be notepad)
   
  1. Click Finish

Windows Vista Windows 7

For these instructions we are adding paint to the Send To feature

  1. Open Windows Explorer

  2. In the address bar type %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

   
  1. You should see this

   
  1. Press Enter

   
  1. Now you will see a list of shortcuts that is currently in the Send to folder

   
  1. Click Start

   
  1. Click All Programs

   
  1. Click Accessories

   
  1. Right-click Paint

   
  1. Click Copy

   
  1. Open Windows Explorer

  2. In the address bar type %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

  3.    
  4. You should see this

   
  1. Press Enter

   
  1. Click Organize

   
  1. Click Paste

 

Now you should have paint listed on the Send To feature
