System File Checker (SFC)

Windows 98

System File Checker (SFC) checks for damaged or replaced system files, and then prompts you to replace any files that do not match the original Windows 98 files. This feature is not available in Windows 95, Windows Me, or Windows 2000.

SFC may not fix any issues that you are having and could also cause more problems. If you have installed updates or something has intentionally altered the windows files so it can run correctly then you use SFC, the program may not run correctly.

NOTE: Only use this as a last resort.
