Copy Windows Updates to CD for Later Use
If you have dial up, it will take you forever to download all the windows updates. Also your system is vulnerable when your system is connected to the internet without the updates. You can get a virus before you get the updates installed. Below is a method of downloading and burning the updates to a CD so you can install them later without having to go online. This way you have the updates installed before going online.
- Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
- Double-click on Add/Remove Programs
- Put a check in Show Updates
- Write down the names of the updates listed (probably will start with KB)
- Go to http://www.microsoft.com
- Navigate to their downloads page
- Do a search for the names of the updates
- Download the updates to a folder on your computer
- Burn them to a CD.
Now you can install the updates from CD if you ever have to re-install your operating system.
