Internet Explorer add-ons

Many companies create add-ons for Internet Explorer to assist the user while at the same time promoting their company. An example of an add on is the Google Toolbar, Bing Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar and other gadgets.

Sometimes an add-on can cause problems with Internet Explorer. If you are experiencing issues with Internet Explorer or the internet, try disabling the add-ons and see if the problem goes away. If it goes away, then an add-on that you disabled was causing the issue. To determine which one was causing the issue, re-enable the add-ons one at a time till the problem returns.

If an add-on is causing the issue, you have the following options

  • Decide if you want the add-on or not. If you don't want it, leave it disabled.
  • If you want the add-on, see if the manufacturer of the add-on has an updated or newer add-on
  • Contact the manufacturer for assistance with the add-on
