Setup network in Windows 2K

Click on the hyperlink for instructions for that step or on for a picture of that step.

  1. Go to control panel (This link will open in a different window)
  2. Double-click on Network
  3. Double-click on the Local Area Connection   (name of the connection may vary depending on how you set it up)
  4. Right click on the connection (If there is not a connection listed, then click on Make New Connection and follow the prompts.)
  5. Click on Properties
  6. Preferred method is to try Make New Connection. After you Double-click on Make New Connection, follow the prompts.
  7. If that doesn't work, right mouse click on the local area connection
  8. click on Properties
  9. Click on Install
  10. Highlight Client
  11. Click on Add
  12. Highlight Client for Microsoft Networks
  13. Click on OK 
   
  • Now Client for Microsoft Networks is listed. When you installed Client, it sometimes installs TCP/IP automatically. You may see both Client for Microsoft Networks and TCP/IP or you may see just Client for Microsoft Networks.
  • Highlight Services
  • Click on Add
  • Click on File and Print Sharing
  • Click on OK
  •    
  • If TCP/IP is already installed, skip to step 23
  • Click on Install
  • Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  • Click on OK
  •    
  • Now it should look like this
  • Click on OK
  •    
  • Reboot the computer
