Windows XP File and printer sharing

Click on the hyperlink for instructions for that step or on for a picture of that step.

  1. Click on Start

  2. Click on My Computer

  3. Right click on the Local Disk C: or a file inside C:

  4. Click on Sharing and Security

  5. Check the box for Share this folder on the network and Allow network users to change my files. 

If the folder you want to share is part of a profile, Be sure to share it while signed on to that profile. Click here for information on why you need to be signed on to that profile.

Be sure to check the settings for your firewall and anti-spyware software to be sure they are set correctly. Spybot Search and Destroy can interfere if not set correctly.
